Pilgrimage signs emerge from drawers of old cupboards and chests, are found in the garden, in the field or by archaeologists in old graves. What exactly are these peculiar pendants all about? Which place of pilgrimage does the pendant come from and which saints are depicted? What period is the find from? This book aims to answer these and many more questions about the identification and background knowledge of pilgrimage signs.

Pilgrimage is an ancient form of worshipping saints and seeking salvation. As visible evidence of the pilgrimage, the pilgrim's badge was taken home and often highly venerated.
