No editorial ranking, no sponsored placements – but an honest analysis of actual sales and advice requests at metalldetektoren.de.
This ranking is based on real sales figures and the models most frequently asked about in our advice conversations (by phone and email) over the past 12 months. Data from other dealers, Amazon or the eBay second-hand market is not included. The ranking is updated on a rolling basis.
Which metal detectors do German detectorists really buy? This question can only be answered with certainty on the basis of real transaction data. There are no market-wide figures in this niche – so we publish our own analysis as a guide for anyone who wants to know what experienced detectorists are currently choosing.
Since its launch, the XP DEUS II has been the most requested professional detector in our range – and it remains so. Its fully wireless FMF technology, low weight from 800 g and coil and remote waterproof to 20 m make it a universal professional tool that is equally convincing on fields, on the beach and under water. The complete set with RC remote and WS6 ST headphones is particularly popular – a system that communicates as one.
The DEUS with X35 coil is the proven predecessor platform – and still in high demand. For detectorists who appreciate the DEUS ecosystem but do not need FMF multi-frequency or are looking for a cheaper entry package, the DEUS X35 is a mature and durable choice. Demand shows that many buyers already know the detector from the community and deliberately trust this system.
The Manticore is Minelab's flagship – and the most discussed high-end detector in our advice sessions. Customers weighing up the DEUS II and Manticore focus on the 2D target analysis and the Manticore's unique signal display. Anyone searching deep in mineralised ground and demanding the highest target separation ends up with this detector.
The X-Terra Pro is the detector we most often recommend for getting started – and our customers then buy it too. Easy operation, robust build and selectable PRO-SWITCH single frequencies at an accessible price make it the ideal first step for ambitious beginners.
The Equinox 900 is particularly often requested from us by detectorists who regularly search on the beach or in difficult ground conditions. The revised user interface compared with the 800 and the improved depth performance have earned it a loyal customer base.
The Triple Score Pro is Nokta's answer to the demand for genuine simultaneous multi-frequency at a fair price. In our advice sessions, it is chosen above all by beginners who do not want to compromise on technology but have a limited budget. Fully waterproof and ready to use straight away.
Multi-frequency has become the standard in the German detecting community. Four of the six most requested models work with simultaneous multi-frequency – a clear trend that is confirmed every day in our advice sessions.
The strong dominance of the XP platform is striking: two of the three most requested detectors come from XP. This reflects the high recommendation rate in the detecting community – once you are in the DEUS ecosystem, you stay there.
Demand for the X-Terra Pro and the Triple Score Pro also shows that beginners today go straight for modern, waterproof detectors instead of gradually working their way up from cheaper entry-level models. The market is maturing.
Note on the data basis: This ranking is based exclusively on sales and enquiry data from metalldetektoren.de. It makes no claim to be representative of the market as a whole. Market-wide sales statistics for metal detectors are not published. All placements were created without commercial influence.
