XP ICON & ICON X vs XP DEUS II

XP detector comparison 2026

XP ICON & ICON X gegen XP DEUS II

Both series use XP's FMF® technology (Fast Multi Frequency). But they are aimed at different detectorists. Here you will find an objective comparison of all known key data – so that you choose the detector that really suits the way you search.

Which detector suits you?

XP ICON

If you want a light detector you can switch on and go – ideal as a first detector or as an uncomplicated second detector for DEUS II owners that uses the same coils.

XP ICON X

If you want more programs, higher reactivity and the 28 kHz single frequency for fine jewellery, thin hammered coins and small fragments – target ID close to the DEUS without a DEUS II budget.

XP DEUS II

If you want to fine-tune every parameter yourself, need maximum depth and choice of frequencies or want to dive deeper than 5 m (coil and remote to 20 m, with bone conduction headphones). The reference detector for professionals.

Shared strength

All three share the FMF® coil platform, the Go Terrain app and XP accessories (MI-6, wireless headphones). Switching within the system protects your investment in coils and accessories.

Frequently asked questions

What is the main difference between the ICON and ICON X?

The ICON X adds the 28 kHz single frequency, offers twice as many programs (6 + 6 instead of 3 + 3), finer reactivity and discrimination settings and an S telescopic shaft with a carbon middle section. The standard ICON keeps the same FMF engine and the 5 m waterproofing, but is deliberately kept simpler.

Does the ICON X replace the DEUS II?

No. The DEUS II remains the top model with 49 single frequencies, full parameter control and coil and remote waterproof to 20 m. The ICON X brings performance close to the DEUS at a lower price, but for the sake of simplicity does without some of the fine depth tuning and the greater diving depth.

Do my DEUS II coils fit the ICON?

Yes. The ICON series is compatible with the DEUS II FMF coil ecosystem. Accessories such as the MI-6 pinpointer, XP wireless headphones and the Go Terrain app can also be shared.

Are the detectors suitable for the beach and shallow water?

Yes. The ICON and ICON X are waterproof to 5 m (IP68) and stable in salt water thanks to FMF – ideal for wet sand and shallow water. For real diving, the optional bone conduction headphones are required, as the wireless headphones are not waterproof. On the DEUS II, coil and remote are rated to 20 m.

When will the ICON and ICON X be available?

The XP ICON and ICON X have been launched in Europe and available since May 2026; the rest of the world will follow. We will be happy to tell you about availability and delivery time – just get in touch.

My personal verdict

Those who know me know that I have been out with a detector myself for years – and I have now got to know both ICON models. They are surprisingly powerful, pleasantly light and so uncomplicated that you switch them on, choose a program and simply get going. In my view, this is exactly what makes them the ideal choice for beginners and occasional detectorists: lots of XP technology, little learning effort, a fair price.

The ICON X is the right recommendation if you want a little more – more programs, finer reactivity and the 28 kHz frequency for small, thin finds. The standard ICON, on the other hand, is the honest “switch on and find” detector that does not overwhelm anyone.

For me, the DEUS II is still in a league of its own. It is aimed at everyone who wants to have every parameter in their own hands, who is looking for the maximum choice of frequencies and depth and who sometimes goes deeper into the water. In short: the ICON series brings many people into the XP system, the DEUS II remains the tool for professionals. None of the three is a bad choice – it all depends on how and where you search.

Note: The XP ICON and ICON X have been launched in Europe and available since May 2026. Individual technical details are based on official XP manufacturer information. All DEUS II values correspond to the official XP specifications.
