The PRO-SWING 45 from Minelab is an ergonomic harness designed specifically for detectorists who go on longer outings. Its central feature is Minelab’s own W8 weight distribution system, which distributes the weight of the detector biomechanically across the whole body – instead of concentrating it on one arm, shoulder or hip. This noticeably relieves the muscles and reduces the typical fatigue caused by swinging a detector for hours.

Specifically, the J-Strut transfers the weight from the shoulder area to the back of the hip – a bony, load-bearing anchor point. This is a key difference from simple bungee systems or hip strut solutions, which transfer the weight onto soft tissue and therefore also become uncomfortable over time.

Technical data

• The system uses three biomechanical strategies to take the weight of the detector off the arm and distribute it across the body. This lets the arm swing freely without having to actively hold the detector.
• The harness can be adjusted individually at eight points – for a precise fit regardless of height and build.
• Further equipment can be attached at eight separate points, e.g. a pinpointer (PRO-FIND 40), finds pouch, digging tool, external speaker, water bottle or torch.
• A simple quick-release lets you unhook the detector in a flash when digging a find and hook it back on again – no lost time, no fiddling.
• The length of the bungee cord, which controls the distance between body and detector, can be adjusted with one hand. This allows the correct swing posture and a healthy body position.
• The J-Strut can be switched to your preferred side with a click – no tools needed.
• The harness attaches to the detector with a universal S-Cuff clamp with hook-and-loop fastener, which fits almost any metal detector model from other manufacturers. The system is particularly well matched to Minelab’s own detectors such as the CTX 3030 or Equinox.
• The wide, extra-padded back section provides comfortable wear and has improved ventilation to reduce heat build-up during longer use.
