Products description

European arrowheads and crossbow bolts

This book contains a collection of arrowheads from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages and of projectile points of the medieval crossbow, published for the first time, which is unique in the history of literature.
The reader has the opportunity to use this work as a basis for the identification of European arrowheads and projectile points and to gain a deep insight into the history of both historical ranged weapons on the basis of the detailed description.
The Neolithic development of bow arrowheads, the transition from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age up to the early and late Middle Ages and, in the third chapter, the development of crossbow projectile points are dealt with thematically. Short texts on the structure of an arrowhead, such as the purpose of central ribs and rivet holes, round off the chapters. This work also includes special regional forms from Europe.
With hundreds of detailed photographs of arrowheads and projectile points and hundreds of hand-drawn sketches, this work is an unbeatable guide for professional collectors and historians.
All arrow and projectile points illustrated are accompanied by weight and length information.

The book is divided into three chapters: Bronze arrowheads, iron arrowheads (additionally subdivided into thorn and socket shafts) and crossbow bolts
