A powerful metal detector with the new BSP hybrid technology (Binary Sinus Pulse) – good depth, fast target response and direct control over all important settings, without nested menus.
Technically, the Virtus builds on the concept of the larger Golden Mask Altus , but was deliberately designed to be leaner. Instead of extensive menus, it is operated directly via the knobs on the electronics housing. This makes it particularly interesting for detectorists who want to keep their settings in their own hands – and the Virtus is considered the more affordable model in the BSP range, without noticeably compromising on performance.
What makes the Virtus special is its BSP technology (Binary Sinus Pulse). The detector works with a bipolar waveform that combines elements of continuous sine signals with a pulsed mode of operation. In this way Golden Mask brings together the best of both worlds: the depth and ground stability of pulse induction (PI) and the fast, clean target response of VLF technology.
The aim of this combination is high depth together with fast response, good metal separation and stable operation on difficult ground. The Virtus works in motion mode – the coil is moved over the ground – and distinguishes targets via two-tone audio output.
The hybrid waveform creates a strong search field for good depth without giving up fast target response – even with closely spaced objects.
The BSP mode of operation effectively suppresses ground noise and therefore runs comparatively stably even on more highly mineralised ground.
Compared with the original BSP concept, sensitivity to low-conductive metals and alloys has been improved – good for classic coin and jewellery hunting.

Despite its clear control concept, the Virtus can be adapted very well to different search conditions. All important parameters have their own knobs on the electronics housing – nothing is hidden in sub-menus.
The Virtus also has a sensitivity switch that lets you adapt the detector noticeably to the ground:
Specially developed BSP-V search coils are available for the Virtus. Important: these differ from the Altus BSP coils and should not be confused with them.
The handier option for coins, jewellery and iron-contaminated sites. The smaller coil separates closely spaced targets better. Ideal for coin shooting – it is not designed for tiny (sub-gram) gold nuggets, though.
The larger coil is geared more towards coverage and depth. It is particularly suitable for searching for coins, historic relics and larger or deeper objects – the standard choice for classic field searching.
With the large 13×11″ coil, the Virtus weighs around 1.4 kg – pleasantly balanced even on longer outings.
The telescopic carbon stem gives a compact transport size and can quickly be adjusted to the desired length.
The integrated battery delivers at least approx. 6 hours via the speaker (at maximum volume) and around 8 hours with wireless headphones.
The Virtus is also available as a version with the WS107 wireless headphones. Detectors equipped accordingly switch between speaker and wireless audio transmission – without an annoying cable.

If you mainly search for coins and smaller objects or work on iron-contaminated sites, the 9.5″ coil is the best choice: handy and with good target separation.
For classic field searching – when larger areas, relics and extra depth are the priority – the 13×11″ BSP-V coil is the more interesting choice.

BSP stands for Binary Sinus Pulse. The detector works with a bipolar waveform that combines continuous sine signals with a pulsed mode of operation. The aim is to combine the depth and ground stability of pulse technology with the fast, clean target response of VLF technology.
The Virtus is based on the same BSP concept but is deliberately leaner and clearer. It does without extensive menus and is operated directly via knobs. This makes it the more affordable model in the range.
No. The Virtus uses its own BSP-V search coils, which differ from the Altus BSP coils. The two coil types should not be confused or swapped.
Yes. Sensitivity to low-conductive metals and alloys has been improved. Especially with the 9.5″ coil, the Virtus offers good target separation and is very well suited to classic coin and jewellery hunting.
The integrated 8.4 V Li-ion battery (5,500 mAh) achieves at least around 6 hours via the speaker at maximum volume. In combination with the optional WS107 wireless headphones, around 8 hours of runtime are possible.
HIGH offers full sensitivity for normal search conditions. LOW is intended for more difficult ground – such as highly mineralised ground or wet beach sand – and ensures calmer, more stable operation there.
The Golden Mask Virtus is not a digital detector overloaded with functions. Its strength lies in its clear control concept, the new BSP hybrid technology and direct control over the most important search settings. It combines good depth with fast target response and useful iron discrimination; the switchable sensitivity makes it even more flexible on different ground types.
This makes the Virtus particularly interesting for detectorists who want a powerful metal detector but can do without complicated menus, displays and numerous search programs.
Happy hunting!
