Minelab GPZ 8000 – the new flagship for serious gold prospecting
With the GPZ 8000, Minelab has launched a worthy successor to the popular GPZ 7000. The new top model is clearly aimed at experienced prospectors looking for maximum depth and control.
Technology & performance
At the heart of the GPZ 8000 is the further developed GeoZVT™ technology, which builds on the proven ZVT™ platform (Zero Voltage Transmission). It delivers exceptional depth on both small and large gold nuggets – even in highly mineralised or conductive ground. Five search modes (Normal, Difficult, Difficult Deep, Normal Deep and Extra Deep) allow precise adjustment to different ground conditions.
A real innovation are the Z-Set Concentric Toroidal Coils – three different coil options that the user can choose depending on target size, terrain and search style. This gives the GPZ 8000 a flexibility its predecessor did not offer.
Ergonomics & handling
Weighing only 2.78 kg, the GPZ 8000 is surprisingly easy to handle for its performance class. The included PRO-SWING 125 harness system distributes the weight onto the hips and relieves the arm and shoulder – a great advantage on long outings in the open. Extended, the detector measures 177 cm, but it folds down to 102 cm, making it easy to transport.
Audio
The new Echo Sonic Pro™ audio system delivers rich, layered sound with improved stereo separation, which makes target discrimination in the field much easier. With the WM 14 Wireless Audio Module you enjoy wireless real-time sound with low latency – freedom of movement without compromising on sound.
Operating temperature & ruggedness
Designed for use in extreme environments: the GPZ 8000 works reliably from −10 °C to +50 °C and withstands storage temperatures from −20 °C to +70 °C – ideal for use in Australian goldfields, African savannahs or arctic regions.
Conclusion
The Minelab GPZ 8000 is not a detector for occasional users. It is a serious tool for professionals and passionate prospectors who want the very best. Anyone prepared to master the learning curve and bring the necessary budget gets a detector with hardly any competition in its class.
