Stereo Multi-Processing, Audio Morphing & all pro settings for maximum depth, target identification and listening experience – fully explained.
Introduction
With update 4.0, XP revolutionised metal detecting: for the first time, the DEUS II runs two completely independent detection channels at the same time – with a single coil sweep. Update 4.1 perfects this system and opens up all features to the entire headphone ecosystem.
Instead of choosing between depth or separation, both channels deliver at the same time: channel 1 on the left for discrimination, channel 2 on the right for deep signals – positioned spatially in your ears. No more need to look at the display.
Simultaneous multiple frequencies with lightning-fast target response. Different high/low frequency combinations depending on the program – from 4 kHz to 120 kHz with the HF2 coil.
Core technologyEach channel is transmitted separately to the left and right ear. Good conductors sound on the right, iron on the left – the brain processes both pieces of information instantly and intuitively.
NEW 4.0/4.1Two different reactivity values active at the same time: channel 1 with higher reactivity for separation, channel 2 with lower reactivity for maximum depth. No more compromise.

Sound & character
The DEUS II offers four basic audio types. The right choice depends on the terrain, your level of experience and the headphones used.
Pitch rises in proportion to target density. Classic, intuitive, ideal for beginners and fast work in trashy ground.
Each conductivity = its own tone. The richest sound information. Requires experience – rewards you with maximum target differentiation.
Square wave, even tone. Ideal for fast, low-fatigue work. The basis for Low Square.
Refined square wave with a deeper tone profile. More comfort, subtler target analysis. New in 4.1 for WS6 / WSA II.
Step by step
How to activate the heart of DEUS II 4.x – two independent detection channels, positioned in stereo space. Requirements: stereo headphones and firmware 4.1.
Multi-Process
The DEUS II offers the unique ability to search like two detectors at once with stereo headphones and 2-channel audio processing – with Multi-Reactivity and Audio Morphing. The factory programs can be selected using the buttons − and + .
Combine low reactivity for deep searching with high reactivity so as not to miss small targets near iron.
Combine different audio types, tones and sensitivities for polyphonic, dynamic sounds – rendered spatially with Chorus.
The first morphing preset is based on 2 tones. Non-ferrous targets and iron produce a morphing effect as you approach, through the mixing of two harmonic tone pairs. On distant targets, a chorus effect is also blended in, which makes recognition easier.
Morph. 2 is a 3-tone preset for channel 1. Channel 2 only becomes audible when you get very close to a target – this allows soft, harmonious morphing across all target types (iron and non-ferrous). Shallow targets thus become instantly recognisable.
This preset combines a highly reactive High Square channel for shallow targets with a low-reactivity PWM channel for deep targets. Each channel delivers its own sound to each ear. Sweep speed determines whether CH1 or CH2 is given more priority.
In the Dual Axis preset, channel 1 runs in classic motion mode with reactivity 2.5 – channel 2 in non-motion mode with fast auto-tune.
Good targets can be heard as a high tone combined with a non-motion 248 Hz tone; iron produces only the non-motion signal. Switch on the iron volume to make iron audible.
Expert mode
Expert mode combines two completely independent search profiles at the same time. Use ▼ to change setting and ↔ to switch between channel 1 and channel 2.
Spatial sound rendering for more precise target depth estimation:
CH1 shows the current program. CH2 can be set to OFF, All Metals or Discri .
Controls the mix between CH1 and CH2. At position 0: press the - button to swap channels.
Adjustable from 0–5. Values below 0 on CH2 activate auto-tune (1–4: slow–fast). When OFF: retune with ■.
Tone for CH1 and frequency for CH2 (below 100 Hz = mute). IRON T. controls the volume and tone of the iron signal.
Advanced function
Audio Morphing: the tone changes dynamically the closer the coil gets to a target. This makes a target's depth audible – without looking at the display.
A shallow piece of iron sounds different from a deep one. A signal at 40 cm changes its sound character differently on approach than one at 15 cm. Your ear learns to interpret these nuances – with no dependence on the display.
Audio technologyA combination of Audio Morphing and Stereo Multi-Processing: signals develop and position themselves spatially in real time. Iron identification in trashy ground becomes much more reliable.
NEW 4.0New in version 4.1
The connected MI-6 pinpointer benefits from dynamic stereo spatialisation. The target moves through stereo space as the pinpointer is moved.
With stereo headphones and an active MI-6, you hear which direction the signal is coming from as you insert the pinpointer. The signal moves from left to right depending on the target position – digging becomes much faster and more precise. Independent MI-6 volume control allows perfect adjustment.
New in 4.1: the MI-6 volume can be set independently of the main detector volume. No more constant adjusting when switching from searching to digging.
NEW 4.1In 4.1, the MI-6 gets its own stereo audio type options. Choose between different signal characters – independently of the detector configuration.
NEW 4.1Stereo FX
The stereo chorus effect is applied exclusively to faint, deep signals and makes them more present in stereo space – without amplifying loud shallow targets.
Faint deep signals are given a subtle stereo "presence" – they sound wider and more spatial than strong shallow signals. The brain recognises this difference immediately and makes deep targets stand out more.
On well-searched stretches, you suddenly discover deep coin signals that were previously missed. The combination of chorus and Multi-Processing is unbeatable for the deepest signals on difficult sites.
New in 4.1: all chorus FX are distributed across both stereo channels. The result is a more intense, more dynamic stereo experience – especially with Stereo Multi-Processing active.
NEW 4.1Optimal settings
Proven stereo configurations for different areas of use. Optimised for stereo headphones with Multi-Processing active.
Audio fine-tuning
The DEUS II offers a multi-band equaliser directly on the remote control. Combined with the stereo settings, this creates highly individual sound profiles.
Configurable from the remote control. For stereo operation: raise the high frequencies slightly for clearer tone discrimination. Lower the low frequencies in the depth channel against ground noise.
Four amplified audio outputs. The headphones' internal processor works with configurable resonances – no audio lag and no latency thanks to XP's proprietary protocol (not Bluetooth).
Multi-tone (2–5 tones): assign each conductivity range its own frequency and volume. B.Caps (0–5) reliably filters out bottle caps. Iron volume can be adjusted separately without shifting the discrimination level.
How it works
The update is free – like all XP updates – and takes approx. 5–10 minutes. It is installed via the official online updater.
Basic setting
For the sake of completeness, because it is a point that is often overlooked and ultimately brings the most depth. The DEUS II is a fast and selective detector. Reactivity determines how quickly the device analyses a signal and separates two targets lying close together – also known as recovery speed. If the ground contains a lot of iron, hot rocks or mineralised material, penetration depth can drop sharply. In this case, high reactivity helps to speed up signal analysis. On clean ground, by contrast, a low reactivity is recommended – the device becomes more sensitive to deep targets.
On the beach, where targets are usually far apart, low reactivity values (0 or 1) are very effective. In difficult conditions – magnetic black sand or changing salt content – an increase to 2.5 to 3 is recommended.
| 0 to 1 | Large masses and coins – in iron-free, uncontaminated ground. |
| 2 to 2.5 | General use – ground with little iron contamination. |
| 3 to 5 | Iron-contaminated and/or heavily mineralised ground. |
The XP DEUS II with firmware 4.1 and stereo headphones is currently the most advanced metal detector system in the world.
