Minelab Equinox 900 – multi-frequency metal detector with EQX 38×30 cm search coil

The Minelab Equinox 900 is one of the most versatile metal detectors on the market. It is equally suited to treasure hunting in fields and parks as to gold prospecting and use in the water – all in a single compact unit.

Multi-IQ technology: all frequencies at once

At the heart of the Equinox 900 is Minelab’s patented Multi-IQ technology. The detector works either on a single frequency (4, 5, 10, 15, 20 or 40 kHz) or switches to Multi-IQ mode, in which all frequencies are active at the same time. Low frequencies such as 5 kHz deliver particularly good depth, while 40 kHz makes the detector sensitive to small objects and gold nuggets. Multi-IQ mode combines the advantages of all frequencies and delivers the most reliable results in most situations.

Fully waterproof to 5 metres

The Equinox 900 is IP68-certified and waterproof to a depth of 5 metres – in both fresh and salt water. Whether snorkelling, wading or searching in the rain: the detector is ready for any use.

8 search programs for every terrain

The detector has eight preset search programs: two each for parks, fields, beaches and gold prospecting. All programs can be adjusted individually and are saved. In addition, a shortcut button gives access to a freely configurable custom program, so a total of nine programs can be saved.

Bluetooth and audio

The ML-85 low-latency Bluetooth headphones are included. If you prefer wired headphones, you can use the waterproof 3.5 mm jack socket – underwater headphones are also compatible. The volume can be adjusted directly on the detector.

Battery and runtime

The built-in lithium-ion battery in the handle is charged via a magnetic USB connector and lasts around 10 to 12 hours in normal use. Handy: the detector can be recharged from a standard power bank while you search.

Weight and search coils

At only 1.28 kg, the Equinox 900 is pleasantly light. Included are a 28 cm DD search coil (EQX 11) and a smaller 15 cm search coil (EQX 6) – ideal for tight spots or very trashy ground. This bundle also includes the optional large EQX 15 coil (38 × 30 cm) for maximum coverage and depth.

Ground balance and recovery speed

Ground balance can be carried out automatically, manually or via the tracking function. The latter continuously adapts the detector to changing ground conditions – useful on highly mineralised ground. Recovery speed can be set in eight levels: low values maximise depth, high values improve the separation of closely spaced targets.

Target identification and discrimination

The high-resolution 119-segment target ID system shows values from −19 to 0 for ferrous objects and 1 to 99 for non-ferrous objects. Silver objects appear in the upper range, gold objects in the middle of the scale. Iron finds can be masked out with the discrimination function – a dedicated horseshoe button switches this function on and off quickly.

Lighting and other functions

For searching at dusk or in poor light, the Equinox 900 offers red display backlighting in several brightness levels, keypad lighting and a coil light. The integrated pinpoint function helps you locate the exact position of a find and dig targets quickly and precisely. Software updates can easily be installed via USB.
