The Nokta Magnetar 9000 is Nokta’s first pulse induction (PI) detector and was developed specifically for professional gold prospecting. It locates deep natural gold as well as micro nuggets – even in highly mineralised ground where VLF detectors reach their limits. It is also waterproof to 3 m (IP68) and comes with two DRC search coils.
The Magnetar 9000 is aimed at gold prospectors working in demanding terrain: in the goldfields of Australia, Africa, South and North America as well as in European gold regions. Instead of several specialist detectors, it combines depth on larger gold and high sensitivity to small nuggets in one platform. Thanks to two menu levels (Easy and Expert), ambitious newcomers to gold prospecting will find their way around just as well as experienced professionals.
Mineralised ground – such as iron-bearing rock, laterite or hot ground – causes false signals and costs depth with conventional VLF metal detectors. The pulse induction technology of the Magnetar 9000, optimised for gold prospecting, works particularly calmly here and delivers a clear target response. This makes it easier to judge whether it is worth digging. Automatic noise cancel finds the cleanest channel by itself and reduces electromagnetic interference, for example from power lines or other detectors nearby.
Both supplied search coils use Nokta’s DRC technology: two receive channels run in parallel in one coil. This increases sensitivity to small, low-conductive gold nuggets without losing depth on larger, solid objects. In addition, target identification helps distinguish between ferrous and non-ferrous.
Electronics, coils and connectors are sealed to IP68, waterproof to a depth of 3 m and dust-protected. This makes the Magnetar 9000 suitable for searching in streams, riverbanks and placer deposits where natural gold has been deposited by water – as well as in fresh and salt water and in rain, mud and dust. Note: the Bluetooth headphones are not waterproof.
The telescopic carbon stem (72–150 cm) keeps the weight low: 2.4 kg with the small coil and 2.8 kg with the large coil, each including battery. The bungee harness and hipstick further relieve arm and shoulder. The colour display, illuminated buttons and integrated coil light make working at dusk easier. Audio via the built-in speaker, Bluetooth or 6.3 mm jack; signals can also be output by vibration. Software and firmware can be updated via USB.

The Magnetar 9000 works with Advanced Pulse Induction (PI). This technology is much more stable than VLF in highly mineralised ground and achieves more depth on gold there.
Yes. The DRC search coils increase sensitivity to small, low-conductive nuggets. For micro nuggets, the smaller MG29 coil is recommended.
Yes. The control unit and coils are waterproof to IP68 to 3 m – suitable for streams, rivers, beaches and salt water. The Bluetooth headphones are excluded. After use in salt water, the detector should be rinsed with tap water.
One battery lasts up to 10 hours. Two batteries are included; charging is via mains adapter, car socket or directly from a vehicle battery.
Ambitious newcomers to gold prospecting can get started quickly with the Easy menu. However, the detector shows its full strength with experienced gold prospectors who adapt the Expert menu to the ground and target type. For classic relic or coin hunting in Germany, a VLF or multi-frequency detector is usually the better choice.
2.4 kg with the MG29 coil and 2.8 kg with the MG37 coil, each including battery. Bungee harness and hipstick are included.
Legal note: Please observe the laws applicable in your country or region. In Germany, a search permit from the responsible heritage authority is generally required for searching with metal detectors. Historic and archaeological finds must be reported.
