Waterproof search coil

The Garrett ACE 250 has a waterproof coil. The display is not waterproof. You can search with the metal detector in shallow water. The display should not get wet. The display should also be protected from rain.
Search depth of the Garrett ACE 250

The search depth depends on the size of the object and the nature of the ground. The ACE 250 can find objects the size of a coin up to approx. 30 cm and larger objects at a depth of approx. 140 cm.
Detecting metals using sounds

The ACE 150 generates three different tones. Objects containing iron and steel have a deep tone. Moderately conductive metals such as bronze, lead, silver, medium-sized pieces of jewelry and coins can generally be heard via a medium-high tone. Highly conductive metals such as gold, large pieces of jewelry and large coins can be heard via a high ringing tone.

Setting options for advanced users in detail
Advanced users will be interested in these setting options for the ACE 250:

SENSITIVITY | The search power can be increased or decreased. 8 power levels can be set. High sensitivity is recommended for searching for small parts and for greater detection depth. Low sensitivity is recommended for locating on soils interspersed with scrap and highly mineralized or salty soils, e.g. on the beach.

DISCRIM | The detector has a discriminating function (scrap filter) for small metal objects, e.g. crown caps and nails. With this function, unwanted small metal parts are filtered out and no longer displayed acoustically.

ELIM | With this object filtering function, you can easily filter out an unwanted object at the touch of a button. Hold the located unwanted object briefly in front of the probe and then press the ELIM button and the object is filtered out with its property and no longer displayed acoustically.

PINPOINT | Press and hold the button to activate the "Non-Motion" (pinpointing) function. This means that you no longer need to swivel the probe. When you are exactly over the located object, you will see a signal deflection on the display scale from left to right.
