The Tesoro Sand Shark underwater detector combines "up to date" pulse induction technology and Tesoro's digital microprocessor technology. PI detectors are the first choice on the saltwater beach because the technology can locate at full power without false signals! The electronics and search coils do not "see" (measure) changes in the mineralisation of the wet saltwater beach. This is an advantage compared to conventional VLF detectors, which are sometimes completely irritated by high levels of mineralisation in the soil, making it impossible to locate them on the beach.
Electromagnetic waves are sent into the ground at an operating frequency of around 600 pulses per second. When these electromagnetic waves hit a metal object, they are swirled and received. The Sand Shark 's highly sensitive technology locates these waves and analyses them reliably. The result of this evaluation is a swelling sound and a simultaneous increase in volume, which acoustically indicates to the diver that there is a metal object in the ground at this point.
The search coil does not need to be swivelled quickly; even a slight movement towards non-ferrous and precious metals causes the basic tone to swell. The Sand Shark is therefore also ideal for use where there is little space to swivel the probe, for example between rocks, when diving wrecks or in crevices in the sea. The Sand Shark detects all metals.
